Ian & Joy Watson's Web Page

Joy & Ian Watson live in the city of Carlisle, in Stanwix just across the Eden Bridge and not far from Bitts Park. The photo on the left was taken in 2004 - so we look a little bit older now!

On the right - Bitts Park, Carlisle in May 2003 - not far from our home, which was flooded in January 2005. Fortunately we are about 25m above river level.

The photo below was taken in 2005 at a party in Jenni's home then in Hockley Heath - she now lives in Wellesbourne.

Seen in this picture: Back row left to right - Ian, Mike, Tom (Jenni's husband), Kelynge (Jean's friend), Simon, Andrew (Ian's cousin, who lives in Dalston).

Seated, left to right are: Jean (Joy's sister), Anita (Simon's wife), Jenni, Diane (Andrew's wife), Joy, Emma (Mike's wife). And right in the front is our grandson Harry (Mike & Emma's son).

Joy works a volunteer in Day Care at the Eden Valley Hospice every Wednesday. She also sings with the Cantonelle Ladies' Choir, which practices every Tuesday, while Ian sings with the Wigton Choral Society every Thursday. He is also a board member of Carlisle Festival Ltd., which promotes a music festival each year in July, and lunchtime concerts in the Cathedral during the autumn and spring.

The Railways Act 2005 saw the demise of the Rail Passengers' Committee for North West England of which Ian was a member. But he remains involved with railways, being a member of the Train Passengers' Consultancy, and involved with TravelWatch NorthWest (see links below), as well as doing some guiding on behalf of FoSCL on the Settle-Carlisle line.

Joy is now involved with life at the local Anglican church, St. Michael's, Stanwix. Ian is a member of the Quakers in Carlisle, and is clerk to the North Cumbria Area Meeting Managing Trustees.
