Day 6, Saturday 22nd January 2005

Sucess so Far We have stopped them doing work for this week. According to Buckinghamshire County Council's press release, on Bucks County Council website "Protestors have succeeded in delaying the work of one contractor on site - Homegrown Timber Limited. The council, on police advice, agreed not to move in heavy machinery until the site could be adequately secured". This is a huge sucess and they are very worried. We must have cost them a them a lot of money. This will be really worrying the contractors who have not yet returned their tenders.

Thank you all so much. It is freezing up there on the Soulbury road and people's dedication is amazing. It is because local people are prepared to demonstrate that the press are so interested. The media coverage is amazing. we have three articles on the protest on BBC News online if you type in "Linslade" We are all over the local papers and have been in the Guardian and the Telegraph and many journals etc. We have had stuff on Three Counties Radio, Chiltern FM etc We have been on Look East, Anglia, Central ITV and BBC South.

Demonstration on Monday at 7.30 am with press.

We need to show how strong the local feeling still is and that it is not a flash in the pan They are going to try to put in fencing on Monday. When the fencing is in it will be very difficult to stop the work so we have to try to stop the fencing. So we must be there. There will be activists from across the country joining us as they did last week.

You can be very powerful by linking arms in front of the vans or workman. Delaying tactics are very powerful. Drop your keys , let your bag fall and spill all over the ground. That will slow up everything. Be a bit vague, ask the police to repeat what they are saying as you feel a bit confused. Be completely charming and friendly. If they warn you that you will be arrested if you do not move then do move. But otherwise if they ask you to do something you do not need to do it in a hurry. If you have to move a vehicle then do it loose your keys for a bit. The police do not want to arrest you. They do not want to be involved in this at all! So be polite as this throws them completely I have to remain 100m away from the site for my bail conditions. But I will be on my mobile or home phone number. 07815 817 108 or 01525 385 097.

If you have any time, Please write letters to the local papers under your name and please badger local Tory councillors to come out and join us because of the housing issues! Tony Bosworth head of Transport for National Friends of the Earth came up from London to support us on Thursday.

This is an amazing campaign and it will grow.
