Day 40, Friday 25th February 2005

Officially middle-aged, now we're 40.

Spent most of the morning at Bucks CC offices, trying to get information out of them. Either they were telling the truth and they did almost no work on assessing alternatives to, and the environmental impact of, the bypass - or they're lying and they have something to hide. I rather fancy the former.

Today I went to have a look at the Wing Hill roundabout - the junction of the A505 and the A418, where the bypass is intended to end. There are seven lovely old oaks, one particularly huge and magnificent, all marked with the blue cross of death. Such a sad sight. They're intended to join the six already felled at the site. We need help to save them, they could go anytime - perhaps, in the meantime, Bucks CC could tell us whether any are occupied by bats?

Click on a blue cross to see the corresponding tree.
