Day 22, Monday 7th February 2005

Well three weeks on and we're still here, enough of a threat for Bucks CC to be seeking to make their ridiculously restrictive injunction permanent. Again not much work to be seen in the field, but plenty of council/security bods photographing everything that moves.

Meanwhile, look what we've founD Bucks CC saying in their "Local Transport Plan Annual Progress Report 2003-2004":

"3.3 Progress with Major Schemes A4146 Stoke Hammond and Linslade Western Bypass

"The A4146 Stoke Hammond and Linslade Western Bypass scheme forms part of the strategic route between Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. Its completion as planned and described will be vital to the success of the Milton Keynes and South Midlands Sub-Regional Strategy and it will make a major contribution to the achievement of the Government's growth agenda for the South East."

Rather gives the lie to the "this is nothing to do with the government's growth plans" line they keep giving us. If you still doubt it, read this paragraph from the same report - developers aren't noted for their philanthropy:

"We have made good progress with the A4146 Stoke Hammond and Linslade Western Bypass in 2003/04. The first phase, known as the Northern Link, between Drayton Road (south of Skew Bridge) and the western end of the Fenny Stratford Bypass was opened to traffic on 9 February 2004. The Northern Link cost more than £10.3 million to complete, of which £9.8 million came from developer contributions."
